Syria: How You Can Help

As turmoil has grown in Syria, many of us have felt useless in efforts to help; with the recent chemical warfare attacks that have again struck the country, it is time to act. While you may not have the necessary credentials or career needed to help the medical, humanitarian or housing needs in Syria, you can help the organizations who do.

  1. Medecins Sans Frontieres Internationl (MSF)
    www.msf.org
MSF’s work is based on humanitarian principles; they are committed to bringing quality medical care to people caught in crisis, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. Operating independently, MSF conducts their own evaluations on the ground to determine people’s needs; more than 90% of our overall funding comes from millions of private sources, not governments. The organization is neutral and do not take sides in armed conflicts, MSF provides care on the basis of need, and push for independent access to victims of conflict as required under International Humanitarian Law.
  2. Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS)
www.sams-usa.net”The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a nonpolitical, nonprofit medical relief organization that is working on the front lines of crisis relief in Syria and neighboring countries to alleviate suffering and save lives. 3. Syria Civil Defense
www.syriacivildefense.orgThe Syria Civil Defense is a group of nearly 3000 volunteers who work to save lives and strengthen communities in Syria; they rush to the scene of attacks to save the greatest number of lives in the shortest possible time to minimize further injury to people and damage to property. The Syria Civil Defense serves all the people of Syria – “we are from the people and we for the people.”
